Ergonomics & Human Factors Program

The Ergonomics & Human Factors Program provides advice and support to UCSF Campus employees and departments about how to reduce discomfort and injuries and how to prevent workers' compensation and ADA claims. Their goal is to help departments optimize the health, safety, and productivity of their employees. This office creates ergonomics standards, evaluates work environments, and reviews building and workstation design plans. They support inclusive environments for all employees.

Equipment, Furniture, and Workstation Design

UCSF Campus Primary Furniture Vendor & Designer – One Workplace (OWP)

This primary furniture vendor with UCSF Campus provides furniture and design solutions pre-approved to meet UCSF, ergonomics, sustainability, and ADA requirements. Equipment includes electric height-adjustable desks, seating, and other office equipment designed to meet 90% of employee needs, inclusive of ADA. Free design consultations are offered. One Workplace works directly with individual employees and departments with supervisor approval and partners with UCSF Real Estate on large design projects and renovations. They are available via email and BearBuy.

This vendor is also utilized by UCSF Health to provide furniture and design solutions for UCSF Health employees. Partners with UCSF Real Estate on large design projects and renovations.

Cube Solutions, the UCSF Campus ergonomics equipment vendor, provides specialized equipment designed to meet the needs of employees, inclusive of ADA. This includes specialized input devices, specialized seating, and other equipment not offered by the UCSF primary furniture vendor, One Workplace. Equipment offered typically falls outside of our standard-sized population and is geared towards people who have specialized needs. Collaboration typically occurs with guidance from the Ergonomics & Human Factors Program.

FSAP provides short-term counseling, referrals, coaching, and biofeedback/Heartmath. They also offer organizational consulting services, facilitated conversations, critical incident debriefing, and threat assessment and management. In addition, they provide psychological education and a mindfulness-based self-compassion program.

Patient Relations focuses on teaching staff on how to anticipate and support the rights and needs of patients, including those with disabilities. This office provides a neutral place for patients to express any concerns about care or services. They manage the investigation of and response to customer complaints. They strive to repair communication pathways and uphold patient rights, including, but not limited to, concerns about equal access for patients with functional limitations.
