Disability and UCSF Anti-Discrimination Initiative

As part of our commitment to dismantling discrimination and the impact of bias at UCSF, the Office of Disability Access and Inclusion (ODAI) has been actively engaged in building initiatives that align with the UCSF Anti-Discrimination Initiative. Below is a non-exhaustive list.

1 - Safe, Welcoming & Healthy Community Climate
  • Publication of theUCSF Toolkit for Accessible Eventsto ensure all UCSF constituents are aware of how to provide accessible and welcoming in-person, remote, and hybrid events.
  • ODAI provides support and resources for our community members across UCSF through the Disability Resource Center.
2 - Address Anti-Discrimination Knowledge Gaps
  • ODAI addresses anti-discrimination knowledge gaps by increasing training opportunities around disability access for all faculty, staff, and learners at UCSF.
  • ODAI and the UCSF Committee and Disability Inclusion (CDI) review the UCSF Community Climate Survey and make recommendations based on data related to constituents with disabilities.
3 - Opportunity and Access in Decision-Making
  • ODAI provides opportunities that contribute to developing awareness and impactful leadership at UCSF.
4 - Diversity in Leadership
  • ODAI provides support to UCSF HR and Workforce Development through building partnerships with community-based organizations that may assist in developing talent pipelines for all, including people with disabilities.
5 - Opportunity and Access in Patient Care
  • ODAI is a partner in the UCSF Health Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), providing policy recommendations on the inclusion of patient and community voices in health opportunity and access improvement efforts to UCSF.
6 - Commitment to the Bay Area
  • ODAI works in close partnership with local, state, and regional organizations to ensure a connection to the local disability community.
7- Equity in Research
  • ODAI provides training to clinical researchers on accessible and thoughtful research practices.
